Can’t change the gear when bike is cold

Hello guys, i ve got a problem with clutch or gearbox. Actually I dont know. When I am taking Biggie out of the garage I put 1 gear and ride out and than when I want to put neutral I can’t move it so I have to switch off the engine . But after that When Biggie is warmed I can change the gears and neutral without problems. Do you know what it can be pls?

Sounds like a warped clutch plate bent then straightens out when warm. Pull steels, palm them all in one hand and spin the stack while looking for a gap between plates. Replace the bent one.

Hi, all the fluids were changed with front break pads and carburetor. Clutch adjustment already checked. Nothing helps.

Hi Sven, thanks for the tip. That sounds like it could happened, but I have no idea what half of the words means and google talks shit do you have any photo of it. What to replace etc. I am really not technical guy, but I want to be one day

Hello Frank, well I bought 2004 Mastiff 1917ccm in february and I ride just around the house and problem with the clutch came before the fluid change. It was lil bit better when I did few spins on clutch hose, but still when its cold I cannot change the gear.

what weight oil is in the primary ? could be too thick and when cold drags on the clutch plates?
You did say when it warmed up it works fine .
Also too heavy of a oil in transmission can cause that.
After I replaced my synthetic oil with belray in my tranny , my Fatboy acted like that ( worse in colder weather )

At the 2 minute mark, the tech places the steels all together on the bike rack. You're looking to see how flat those steels are when they lay on each other. This is how you can see one plate rises off the other. When you pull the lever, all the plates are flat so they move away and no drag. But let one warped clutch steel have a wave, it touches the friction and there is your problem finding N.

How much oil is in the primary ? over filling can cause some problems also,
according to the manual.

on this guy's 04 nothing wrong with 32oz....The harley style primary's don't have the same issues with the starter taking in oil as it's further up and out of the way.

Don't get me involved unless you know what your talking about.
I will recommend an oil though. I use this in all the bikes that come through my shop. I have had zero problems with it. The wrong oil in the primary will give you fits.

That's exactly the point I was hoping to make about the primary oil. My 2000 year bike has a Primo Revera clutch in it. They actually recommend automatic transmission fluid for their clutches. I have never had any issues with the clutch not disengaging when cold or slipping under a hard acceleration load.

Of course I put a Kenda tire on it and there is no way in hell that fucking thing will ever hold the power from the 107.

You can actually run those clutches dry. The oil is only in there to lube the chain.
