Hey Marv does that 640 work ok with the stock compression, or does it need to be bumped? Also do you know if the 640 is ok with the stock springs in an 07?
A nearby shop thought the 640 would be a good choice.

No and No .....I see a set of springs for sale and the heads are off anyway. Best offer huh...I'll be watching.

I wasn't sure if the compression bump would hurt reliability, or make it too sensitive to gas. We like long trips, and don't want to fight detonation or worse probs.
You figure the springs are a must too?

Anytime you add power to a stock drivetrain you are walking the line to a point. That being said the 640 cam will bleed off compression in the sweet spot you ride in so a compression jump is needed and 91 octane fine. Most of these guys changed over to an adjustable ignition so you can tune it to the point of detonation minus 2 or 3 degrees. I'm sure the stock ignition is very conservative on total timing.

Thanks Vegas. Good info. If I can still use premium, I think I'll have the jugs shaved.
Did a thread search a while back and didn't come up with anything. Now I get an older thread that mentions some of the 2007's had the upgraded springs already....Probably have to pop the cover off and take a look, I guess. Have you seen any that did?

Actually I think I have. If you have a Chopper it's pretty easy to check. If your going to shave the cylinders you might as well have a 5 angle valve job done, port the heads, and make sure the seat pressures are right on. :D Or you could just bolt them back on if they have the right springs. LOL

goofy you would be silly not to take that cam and spring off of Marv if this is the sort of thing you want to do. Increasing your compression a touch will not result in you struggling with pump gas. You probably need to get up towards 11:1 comp for that.

Thought you were dropping in the W9F ? Gonna stay with the 640 ? I would have thought the lower duration of the woods cam would have sucked you in.

pulls hard enough now with the 640 and the high compression.

will use the cash from this to put towards the LSR.

The 08 models have the single wound behive spring thats rated at .585 and standard rockers (not roller tip). Depending on your motor in the 07 you may have the same.:hi:
