Ok this may come off as a bit hmmmm lets say bitching, but just hear me out and see if you want to still do business with someone like this.

Years ago I bought an oil cooler set up from Chopper Dave's, and as some of you know my Mastiff was stolen back in 2018 and some of the parts were stripped from the bike. My stash tube in this case. Well I had decided to go with dual oil coolers on the Mastiff earlier this year. And on 2-13-20 I purchased a second oil cooler to go with the one I had.

During ordering this oil cooler I was told that my old oil cooler adapter would not work with the new oil cooler, that i would need a new oil cooler adapter and fittings for the old oil cooler. So, i went ahead and ordered the oil cooler and Chopper Dave was suppose to send the new adapter too, somehow that got lost in translation. So i received the oil cooler no adapter. Well this project got bumped to the back burner, a few weeks because of Covid-19. When I decided to pick this project back up I had thought about putting oil coolers on the Bagger, so I looked at Chopper Dave's price and the fact that his coolers won't fit the baggers' downtubes, so I called Donna and Derek. Seen how much dual oil coolers were for the bagger and I had looked at the old oil cooler on the Mastiff and noticed pitting and chrome all messed up and thought I just spent 316.98 on 1 oil cooler from him and i got 2 from Donna and Derek for not much more then what her charges for 1. So I order another set of oil coolers from them, deciding then I would send Chopper Dave's oil cooler back. but I still needed an adapter for the Bagger, since the Mastiff has one already. So I call Chopper Dave up and ask about the adapter again. And i order one, in the time it took for it to arrive I got both sets of oil coolers from Donna and Derek. Keep in mind i ordered them a week apart. i also had them powder coated and already sent to diamond heads before receiving the adapter which had been paid for 2.5 weeks earlier. So I finally receive my adapter 5-3-20. And it looks amazing its chrome and is going to look great.

I'm working the week it arrives so the first day I'll have to fool with it will be on my days off, so 5-7-20 I tear off the old adapter cause I've already got the Mastiff on the bike lift and torn down for cleaning, I'll go ahead and install it on the mastiff and then install the HDM coolers when they get back. Well on 5-9-20 after I've got the fittings i need and everything for an oil change I start installing. i quickly realize "Houston we have a problem". When trying to install the filter it won't clear the crank position sensor. So i contact Chopper Dave he tells me i have to use a Fram oil filter part number PH6565 i think it was so i run and get one, get back go to throw it on holy crap, it wont fit either. So, I hit Chopper Dave up again tell him it won't fit. He then tells me I need to add lock washers between my motor and the oil filter housing. WTF??? This adapter says on your website its for Bigdogs and your telling me to use washers between the motor and oil filter housing, ok?? So off comes the oil filter housing I throw some washers in there. put oil filter on then oil filter housing, and guess what I'm smashing into the wiring of the sensor. well this wont work. Chopper Dave what do i do? Add more washers is what he tells me, says I'll be close to the sensor but it will work hes done it to hundreds of bikes.

Now i get to thinking wait a minute, I just order a second one of these for the bagger since I was going to use this one on the Mastiff. i go to the bagger and see the o2 sensor wires and I can't move the oil filter housing half an inch over because the o2 sensor wires. And honestly do i want to go thru all this every time I want to change my oil and filter,,,,ummmm no. So I tell Chopper Dave to Cancel the second adapter since he hadn't sent it yet, and i tell him I'll send the oil cooler and the adapter back. He quickly tells me that he can't refund me for the adapter since it had been mounted. What? You sold me something you said was for my bike, nothing on the website or in any messages before this said i had to modify anything to make it work. Or that adding this adapter would make changing oil or voltage regulator plug or crack position sensor a pain in the ass from now on. So I said whatever, and he then says send it back I'll see what I can do. So Monday morning i send the oil cooler back with the fittings, hose pretty much everything but the adapter since he was going to have to see what he could do there wasn't a big hurry on that. So Thursday i see on USPS that the package was delivered. Keep in mind I had spoke with him Wednesday night about refunding me the adapter he never sent since he hadn't yet, and he said he would. So Thursday I check to see if my refund has been given since the oil cooler was delivered and since i spoke with him wed about the adapter. So friday comes, no refund, so i ask him if he got the parts he says no. So i spend the next few hours trying to find them even tho USPS says they were delivered. Friday night around 8:30 his time I get a message with a picture, wheres the adapter? i tell him that I only sent the oil cooler that way he could refund me the adapter he never sent and the oil cooler as new and i would send the adapter after he refunded me. He says ok I'll do it tonight. Saturday no refund, sunday no refund, Monday no refund. So I send him a message asking about refund, he never responses. So i contact Paypal which is how I paid him thru, set up a dispute. Monday night he text about 12 am my time, were closed on Monday I'll refund you tomorrow. Tuesday he text me i see you opened a case against me I'll refund you now. he refunded me 78.70 for the adapter he never sent. Ummm wheres my 316.98 for the oil cooler? he tells me he will look them over tonight before midnight, and it will be done before midnight. So 2 am no refund. i open another dispute on paypal. i text hime today and said i'm guessing no refund today either, hes says he will do it. then text me and says I see you opened another case against me, let paypal get your money for you. he received the returned parts 5-14-20, its 5-20-20 and i still don't have a refund for the oil coolers. And hell I'm scared to even send back the other adapter now. lol. might offer me a dollar back?? so I'll eat that 78.70 i guess.

Just beware that this guy says his parts are for bigdogs, but you may have to modify some stuff to get it to work. And when he tells you the manufacturer of a certain oil cooler adapter has closed down and its no longer available don't believe him. Hes crooked and his business ethics are shit and hes a liar if he says he will do something don't believe him. Proof is in the pictures.

Wow, sorry you had so much trouble -- I've installed oil coolers on both my K-9's and never needed an adapter like that -- twin cams do, evolution engines you just extend the line going to the oil filter to the cooler and then loop back. That's how the BDM cooler installed and that how I have my Pro-One coolers connected.

Thanks, still no refund but i put a case in with paypal and they are investigating it. And i know you can do the oil lines the way you are talking about, but the adapter relocates the filter up and away from the bike just a hair, and to me not knocking any one here, but to me with the adapter it just seems to have a cleaner look.
