Broken left side taillight wire

Went out for a ride Saturday and during the ride must have hit bump hard enough to compress the rear tire enough that it chaffed the left side taillight wire causing the Tach, Speedo, rear tail lights to go out again. I had this fixed a few weeks back and the mechanic I spoke to said the wheel is off set to the left and would require some machining to get it centered.

My question is; does anyone else have an 03 Mastiff and if so is your rear tire offset to the left? I have had no problems with this up until a few months ago. I did have my rear tire replaced last fall and wonder if the mechanic that put the tire on could have off set the wheel by using different spacers or what else would be the cause of having the wheel off set? I know where the problem is and can re-splice the wire, but would like to fix the cause if possible.

Any thoughts on fixing this would be appreciated.

I just replaced my rear tire myself and the spacers were different on each side. Maybe he got them reversed. Mines an 07' and I don't know whats on an 03'.

I would look to see if the belt is aligned. If the wrong spacers were used or if the offset is wrong the belt would look a little " katty-whompass"

yep - if your rear tyre has been set up wrong then the whole alignment thing will be off and you would probably have noticed. Did he say it was offset in the swing arm or to the centre line of the frame? the swing arms are not the same on each side

Thanks for the reply.
The belt looks straight and doesn't rub the side of the sprocket. The wheel is only a 1/4 inch offset to the left, not much but enough to rub the wire.
