Brokedown AGAIN

:2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs: See, we are not all blind followers of the BD way is the only way.... and I'll bet he "rides" his scoot too...
That's a funny statement.
I have over 50000 miles on my K9 thank you.
No one has ever said the BD way is the only way. We've only asked that those who have had issues, many of which were caused by the owners themselves for various reasons, stop lambasting Big Dog as though everything they ever built was a piece of crap and the only way to cure it is try to turn it into a Harley. A select few here are the ones who keep that up.

Excuse me but in another post didn't you say that you wanted to keep your BD stock and that you wouldn't turn it into a Harley and no one else should? And you just said it again...

People don't screw up their electrics. BD did that. You sell parts so it's in your interest to keep people buying BD parts so you can support your bad habits.

Yes I have made those statements but only in response to the continued bashing by all the Harlefy zealots.

Yep I sell all kinds of different parts and I do it to make a living but it doesn't mean I sell them shit just so I can take their money. And I sell very few BD specific parts so I'm not sure what your point is.

And your dead wrong about people not screwing up their electronics. I see it all the time through lack of maintenance, insisting on replacing parts themselves when they really don't know what their doing, taking a 50amp jump box to start the bike because they have a low battery. I see the same thing with other areas of the bikes too.

If all you can do is assassinate someone's character to try and make your point then I don't have much faith in anything else you have to say.

Īm not saying what you've done to your bike is somehow wrong or bad or anything else. I'm just saying that for many its not necessary and if done right by the right person the low voltage electronics is a good way to go and can be very dependable if done right.

Well, for the good of the board and the real bikers that have had enough I will document my rewire. :2thumbs:
I'm not here to bash anyone. I put the PDM in and I'm always worried that it's going to die and BD is gone. Now RIP is the big thing but who's to say that they will be here 5 years from now. That's why I will go with complete rewire next time and I do ride my bike I've got a little over 70K on it.

I helped a buddy with an electra glide fix some electrical issues just last summer. We're all smart enough to know that nothing is 100% trouble and maintenance free. There's a trade off no matter which solution you choose.

See now you just sound like Woodbutcher when he's on a rant.

Well Curtis, it seems like you assassinate me in almost every post I make. I know we disagree on some things but we emailed and agreed to disagree because there should be 2 sides and this shouldn't be a 1 sided forum.

I've posted many times about the great service you provide and how honest you are. I just responded to another "here we go bad BadDawg" post by you.

11k miles on the stock cam sensor on my 04.

What kind of pipes are you running? Few guys have had issues were their pipes too close to the nosecone and prematurely burning them up.

Running Martin Brothers Medustas.......and Yep your right....they wrap right around the nosecone...........the first Cam Sensor I had was Original BigDog,burned out at 11 thousand miles......then have replaced multiple sensors since, all of which were not OEM stuff.....

Think I have found a solution maybe...........Iam still doing research and making phone calls...........

Another classic example of the type of issues that the "electrical system" , EHC etc, gets blamed for.

How would a "rewire" resolve an issue with the pipes too close to an aftermarket cam sensor?

We all have to slow down, and take the time to a proper job of diagnosing the issue.

I have already properly diagnosed the issue, and verified what the issue is:).....making phone calls and finding out about products now.........I have a few different options I'am considering...........

Kinda hard to find OEM BigDog Cam sensors now, know what I mean..........

And who"s talking about rewiring there bike.I"am not????

suppose you shaped a piece of rock wool insulation to fit inside the cover to protect the sensor from the heat of the pipes. might be worth a try. rock wool is high heat resistant if you don't want to get rid of the pipes.

go to the harley dealer and tell them you want one for a '99 big twin, like a softtail, take the old one to make sure its the same.

or order one from from a S&S dealer, that's where BigDog got theirs.
