Breather hose

I am putting on a pukecan. I see that it is recommended to just plug the front hose and manifold penetration. I would think that the same pressures are in the front cylinder as the back. Can some one shed some light on this. Also can I run both hoses to a "Y" fitting and then to the can?

Thanks Juice

no you can't. One hose blows and the other sucks, so to speak. I'm also not sure it is recommended to plug the front hose, just that you can do if you like. Happy to be corrected on that though and I think Al has done this.

Rear cylinder head has the large line with the check valve, this needs to go somewhere and can not be capped off. This line is allowing pressure to escape and the check valve must be turned in the proper direction.
The small front line can be capped off.

Yep... rear has to have the chk vlv... white side to the motor.

Being you have a 2008 Ridge... you dont need a puke can. If you are puking that much oil then you have a problem!

Yep, lee your correct I wouldn't go as far as saying its "recommended" but S&S does state that its optional. I have mine plugged because when I was running the clear pvc line I was able to see just how much oil the intake manifold sucks in. I also think that the intake sucking the the oil may slightly impact the mixture itself. At any rate I'm back on straight 50 weight dino oil, no front hose and its running great.

I had the dealer sell me the wrong oil filter 2 years ago and it puked oil till I figured it out. Remember, you must have an EVO filter and not a Twin Cam filter! Thought I'd mention this just in case you put a new filter on lately.

Why would you want to put in a puck can? I can see it on models years prior to 05 but the newer SSW S&S motors don't have much of a breather issue that I can tell.
Are you having an issue with leakage? May be some other problem.

Keep it simple! :D

Thanks for the info everyone. My Motor has not started puking. I was anticipating that somewhere down the road though I just thougrt it would not hurt to put the puke can on now. How long can I expect to go before she starts blowing oil. Moderate riding, very little high RPM stuff.

Let me get this right on a post on this thread......THe OIL FILTER is the same one that is used on the EVO engine? Thanks Juice

Valve position

ALso.....a post on this link talks about the one way valve on the "larger hose". needs to be orientated the right way with the white side towards the motor.
So are we leaving it as it was installed by the factory or do we need to flip it around. Also One hose blows and one sucks? Wich one does what?
Thanks , Juice
