Why can't you repair it?Lookin to see if anyone has an idea on where to get a sissy bar. I have a 12" and one of the holes is stripped. Thought maybe it coulda be helicoiled but was told no. Got a 06 K9 with the struts.
My thoughts exactly or just run the next size tap and see what happens.I would take it to a machine shop and have them fill the stripped hole and re-tap it. A lot less $$ than a new bar...
I have tapped a hole that was stripped with a metric tap without having to redrill the hole.Lookin to see if anyone has an idea on where to get a sissy bar. I have a 12" and one of the holes is stripped. Thought maybe it coulda be helicoiled but was told no. Got a 06 K9 with the struts.
JB weld if mixed right will seal a crack in a engine block, this stuff is amazing, But you have to give it time to set up. good luck.Fill it with JB Weld Instant Steel and then re-tap it.
I had a strut bolt I did that I did that to when it ended up elongated.
Don't forget to paint the cut part with at least some primer. Would hate to see rust running down your fender. Common sense, worth more than gold.Cut a 1/2 or 3/4" off and redrill and tap
This is the correct fix.Cut a 1/2 or 3/4" off and redrill and tap
