Bobber Seat Conversion on 05 Ridgeback

Wazzz up! I thought I'd put up some pic's of my Bobber seat conversion. First I measured frame to get an idea of what seat demension I can use..

I ordered what would be my best choice and have the option to use my stock seat if needed. picked up off ebay a LaRosa 9x13 with some hot knife work dark tan. 3" springs.

First I marked frame and drilled a 5/32 pilot hole then used a 17/64 and then tapped for a 5/16 NC18 cap screw.

Next I measured and mark the back cross frame tube for drill and tap for 5/16

Next I fitted with a 3/4 inch spacers under the lower spring to keep seat from bottoming out on battery.

You'll find that there is alot of adjusting to get it right but it was overall easy and took me 2 evenings. note: because of the battery the springs must sit 45 deg from front. I tried to face them backwards but the angle of the rear studs that hold the springs on face in a awkward angle for this.

I took it for a spin and wow!!!! now I don't feel every pebble on the road. rides real nice and soft.
enjoy the pic's..I'll try to get clearer pic's tomorrow and keep you updated with any issues. Take care.

Looks great!
It must be nice not feeling the painted lines in the road as you change lanes.

Nice job.

nice job dog1, do you plan on fabricating a battery cover to go between the seat.

Good Job

I did something similiar on my pitbull. Looks awesome! Also, saves the pounding on the lower back!

Take care,

i like the different look!

wondering if you have any problems sliding off the back of that seat?
many of the sprung solo pans used on chops have a higher rise in the back to keep you from sliding off.

not an issue yet but I do know you do sit a bit higher and forward but not by much but this does help keeping you in the seat. I thought of getting the deep pan seat but the measurements were off for what I needed and I was not sure if I could modify it to work. Here are more pics.

Great job! I saw your RK on another forum when you did the 21 front wheel conversion. That bike came out looking great too!
