Blowing pdm fuse

I just replaced my started with my backup starter I has the Kaptain rebuild and add a slam button. I doubt the starter has any influence on my problem but the saving grace to it is the slam button.

When I turn on the ignition switch I instantly blow the 5 amp fuse controlling the starter/ headlight circuit.

Previous to this I could turn on the ignition switch without blowing the fuse but as soon as I would hit the starter button I would blow the fuse.

Prevoius to that I went to start the bike and I had nothing when I hat the start button. I then found I had a blown fuse. Replaced it and it immediatel6 started but the next time I went to start it I had a blown fuse.

I have removed the handbags control switch and have disconnected the wires to the switch except the permanently soldered off/run power connection. Aft the disconnection of the starter switch andq the lead wire going to the starter that I think actuated the solenoid switch I turned on the ignition and the fuse blows.

I can turn on the ignition switch, hit the run button, push the slam button and the bike starts easily with a blown fuse in place.

It must be my ignition switch or PDM not blowing the starter circuit and effecting the starter switch controls.

I'm not electronically skilled, I'm just a wrench.....

Pull the green wire off the starter and hit the start button. See if the fuse blows. I had a bad starter that was blowing fuses when I hit start button. Just a thought to start troubleshoot

Gary, I have the green wire off and I blow the fuse just turning on the ignition switch.

The diagram I have shows the "starter solenoid/headlight" fuse (F-1) is a 25A fuse, not 5A.

Dennis.

I don't have my schematic the shop that installed it under warranty never gave my a copy so I was guessing it was to the starter switch.

I am blowing the F2 5 amp fuse. I have no idea what it controls specifically.

F-2 controls the tag light. Here's what BultacoBob posted a couple of weeks ago:

If your tag light is blowing when you hit the start button it may have been wired wrong. Was the PDM just installed?

Trace the wires back from the tag light to the connector under the seat, its a JST connector usually runs behind the battery along with the rear tail lights. Unplug the tag lights and try again. Maybe you got a short in your tag lights somewhere? Or PDM was wired incorrectly.

DB thanks for that photo...just saved it !
