Th3InfamousI, you can do the Wire Plus if you just take your time and be very careful of clipping the correct wire, just take it one wire at a time and you can do it. The cam swap is actually considerably less time consuming than the Wire Plus. I took a pic of the connectors with my digital camera and blew it up on my computer to a full page size so that I could count the pin locations to get to the correct pin. Much easier than trying to see those little numbers with my 56 year old eyes. Good Luck!
Well Im going to try like hell, if it takes me 2 days so be it. I'll take pics and post the write up when I'm done.

Just as a frame for reference, I took 14 hours, but it was my "first time" and I didn't want to make any mistakes. Especially since it wasn't my bike!

Well guys, I got a call from the mechanic yesterday and it wasn't good. I messed up both intake valves. So now, I'll be getting the heads cleaned up with new valves and guides with some heavier duty valve springs(nice little upgrade). When I pick the dog up(hopefully in a week or so), I'll get a rundown of where I went wrong. I can't wait to find that out.

Step 1: invest on a good set of crimping pliers!!! The only issues I've ever heard regarding a wire plus was from poor connections to the pins (loose wires).

My plan is to solder & shrink wrap everything. I only want to do this once.

Troy,

I hope it all gets fixed for you. There is nothing worse than a sick Dog. Plus, we need to ride this spring.

:iagree:

Kind of sounds like the rods were adjusted too long the first time then WAY too long the second time...

Dumbass question. do you adjust the pushrods the same way as on a harley-- set one cylinder on compresson stroke, make sure the lifters are on the base circle and adjust those valves, then go to the other cylinder? Just curious as this sounds like where he might have gone wrong. Yes, I'm still learning.

Same procedure as a Harley:up:

Hey Nuke,

I'm hoping it'll be ready when I get back in town on the 27th. I'm ready to show off my new paint and mods. We definatley need to meet one day, especially if you can possibly make it to Thunder Beach.

Troy,

Can't wait to see your new paint and especially the S&S Dual Runner. I can't decide between a Vertical Spike or Dual Runner so I haven't done anything. I am going to Thunder Beach. I have told my co-workers that they will have to cover for me no matter what is going on.
