Bike won't Fire

I have a 2006 K-9 and was out Sun afternoon when about 20 mi into the day it started to sputter as if it was out of gas. It then completely quit and although the starter turned over the engine would'nt fire as if it were out of gas but it wasn't. After getting it basck home and charging the battery it continued to do the same. I checked the voltage on the battery and the voltage is at abouit 13.5. It is the original battery but seems to be ok.
Also for the past 2 or 3 months the speedo and tach have been acting up. Speedo would bounce around or not work at all and tach would flash all lights, bounce around or not work at all then sometimes everthing would work fine for a couple of weeks. Don't know if these problems are related but thought I should throw it in. The EHC was replaced shortly after I got the bike in 2006 because of the recall they had from BD. From reading some other issues on here, is the ECH my problem? Is the ECH and the ignition mod the same thing?

Mine didn't sputter, just flat shut off. I had no lights to the EHC when I turned the key but everything else worked. Check that too. Wire Plus gets here tomorrow

Tank Liner? How do I check, which means its not getting gas.
Pull the petcock out and drain the gas. Look for particles on the screen and in the drained gas. Simple check.

When the tach flashes all lights means it has idled too low.

Could also be a crank sensor gone bad.

When I got home last night, I started in on my problem. I took off the battery cover first and then put the battery back in. Thought I would try and start but still no fire. As I started to look around I noticed a small wire hanging by itself on the right side and it appeared to be broke from somewhere. It was obvious something wasn't right with it. The wire had broke off from the ignition cut-off module on the scorpion alarm system I had installed when I first bought the bike. I soldered the wire back on and bike fired right up. Thanks for everyone's help and I guess it just goes to show, you have to look at everything. (I had already been looking on Wire Plus for a new EHC at $520)
