For all those who've changed to the Generation 4 PSI carb, would you do it again. There seems to be lots of passion for and against this carb. How about reliability and stability, I have been surprised to hear some complain that they are always having to adjust it due to the "precision".

I'm interested in buying one but they are $1,000.00+ and I don't need that regret. Thanks for the information.

I got no complaints on mine - I'm not continually adjusting it and have had no problems with it at all and I've had it over three years now. Lot of money though...

let's update

Let's get this thread updated and going..... anyone else with some PSI Big Air 4th Gen information?!

I wish I had more money.
I know I have heard only good things about them. If I could have and carb I wanted it would be this one for sure.

I guess I have to be the one to gripe, so here goes. The carb makes my 05 Chopper run like a raped ape, BUT when you are decelerating and all the way off the throttle, when you go to engage the throttle again, it takes an annoying amount of pressure to break the slide free causing the bike to lurch forward, the higher the revs, the more pressure it takes. When the bike is not running, the operation of the throttle is smooth, even at idle, you can flick it with ease. I contacted PSI and they said nobody else has the problem and that was that......so, I'm a very frustrated owner of an $1100 carb that makes the bike no fun to ride. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a setup issue.
I had a Gen 1 on my K9 and I loved it.
I went to a new set of hand controls that don't allow for the removal of the 1 cable, Gen 1 didn't come with the dummy spring setup for the second cable, so I haven't gotten around to putting it back on but its coming. Especially now that I have the Thunderheart programmable ignition to install.

Kapt,
I bought one used and haven't installed it mostly because I fear the consequence of screwing something up and no local accessible support from a pro. After you get things set up maybe I can get some more detailed insight from you. I bought mine used and it is set up for a 124 in motor but I have the 117 with .600 cam, crane hi 4 ignition, dual runner air and short pipes. Tuning the bike with my S&S carb has been challenging, hoping for some improvement by switching to PSI Gen 4.

We should definitely talk because mine is setup for a 117 and I need the needles to support my newer 124. Maybe we can swap out the needles.
What Generation do you have?
Setup is amazingly easy compared to an S&S carb.

I have the Gen 4 billet model, it has only one of the throttle cable connected but cut (as it has been used), and I bought the kit for the other cable (directly from PSI) but I don't even know how to apply the cables into the carb. I feel comfortable witheverything else but getting the carb connected to my throttle is the crux. I spoke to PSI and he said I should be on the single cable only style throttle and was very insistent, but I can count (dammit) and there are two cables exiting my throttle and the mechanism to attach them to the PSI is not evident to me in my limited experience. The stakes are high if I mess up since I live in the boonies and have a difficult work schedule (the OC is a ways away).

I am completely willing to swap out the parts with you Kapt, assuming that we both would need the others parts so anytime you want just let me know.

I have ordered the slam button from you so you should have my contacts, but I can always PM if this works better.

Kapt - was the use of the word "dummy" just a coincidence?

Ok so let me know what you think on the guts swap.

Will work you at that time for more details since I'm at work and it is better to have the PSI in hand when you are schooling me.

I'm pretty interested in going with a PSI on mine. Are there any vendors here on the forum that sell them or is it a factory direct deal?
