Bent Wheel

I ended up doing similar damage to my front rim on my '05 Chopper.

I made a lane change a bit too quickly into a lane on the freeway that had just been repaved, and there was about an inch or two high "lip" that I hit directly with the rim. The bead was fine and I never even lost air, but the rim where the bead seats had about a two inch long dent, and stuck out a good 1/4" or so. I took it to a place in Sacramento California that has a way to test the integrity of the wheel prior to fixing it, and I was told that my wheel was non-repairable. I believe it would have cost me about $100 if they could have repaired it. Just assume be safe, so I shelled out the $600 for a new front wheel instead of trying to find someone who would repair it regardless of the condition. I know there are plenty of places out there that can repair a bent wheel, but I'd be very concerned about having it done by a place that can first verify that the wheel can be safely repaired.

The place I went to is:
The Frame Man -- Motorcycle frame, fork and wheel straightening

Good luck with yours, and I'm glad you came thru the incident unscathed!
