belt slipping

For a while now I haven't been able to accelerate hard with sone serious juddering going on. It feels like the drive belt is jumping teeth but my understanding has always been that belts don't slip. Break, maybe, but not slip unless they're real loose (which mine isn't).

I took a closer look at the pulley on the rear wheel yesterday and found this. Looks like my belt has been jumping teeth. What a fucker

I guess the best solution is to go to a chain but I know what a pain in the arse that is and I don't want to spend any more money on this bike

Yep -- looks like a jumper! I'd expect the belt nubs to be flat as well? Any chance the rear axle adjusters were slipping -- maybe the lock bolt wasn't tight?

I have a spare belt (had a small rock hole in the middle but it's still good) you're welcome to if you want to try another belt. Could ship it to you or get it to Lisa the next time she flys through one of the Washington DC airports.

Thanks Chach

The belt is pretty new and looks in good shape - I had problems with alingment and shredded a belt last year and I guess this is the result of that. All started from tranny bolts shearing off. I tightened the belt yesterday and the slipping has gone. It wasn't particularly loose and is now probably a touch too tight but hopefully I'll get away with it.

WOW I would never excpect the rubber belt to make that type marks. looks like
metal scraping on it.
