BDM PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS-POSITIVE EXPERIENCE

Well, I broke the belt guard on my K-9 and couldn't find one on Ebay. I was a little apprehensive about BDM Performance Products, based on what I had read on the forum.
The website quality is pretty poor, and it is slow, but they listed the part. I called, a helpful guy confirmed availability, and I received it in about two days. Yes, it was overpriced, but I am used to that. Many of the parts listed on the site are designated "backordered," but I lucked out.
I do hope we can help keep them profitable....it is about all we have left.

Cool, thanks for the info....:2thumbs:

Do we want to know how you managed to break the belt guard though? More importantly, did BBC have anything to do with its demise? :D

Have a feeling BDM PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS will be selling off OEM old stock, then that will be it for those parts like the belt guard. Brush up on your fabrication skills or dig into some aftermarket catalogs.

I was picking up some parts from a dealer Saturday and they told me the following "rumor":

BDPP was jacking up the costs to them on parts and their take on it was BD owed several of their vendors when they filed. Their vendors were therefore raising the cost to BDPP when they re-ordered (and producing smaller runs). They specifically mentioned the hand control boards.

Again, about all we hear is rumors and take it for what it's worth.

I ordered a 2up seat on May 14th, called June 14th to see where it was and they told me the seats are coming in June 24th. I received an email Aug 2nd stating they were unable to get them manufactured and they would send me a check in the mail as a refund. I just assumed they hadn't billed my credit card yet which they had back in May! I should have payed better attention to my credit card statement but since when does a company bill your card before they shipped you anything? WTF? I won't order anything else from them, I don't think they are going to be around long.

Why would anybody send a bankrupt company money????????????? I'm sorry......Really!!

To some I think it may be a little more to it than that. For one, if you buy a custom motorcycle, which most of us undoubtably did, getting parts and service is somewhat of a hassle. But then again it is a hassle we should of expected. That being said, I thing it is just human nature to do what you can to help what's left stay in business. It seems we are very limited on where we can get certain parts. Maybe that's why some people will go above and beyond, and give this company the benefit of the doubt.

Personally I rely on ebay, but to each his own.

Well guys, after waiting for my clutch cable from BDM that was ordered on May 5th, I received it July 27th. Only took 3 months(82 days), but I got it. Part I wasn't happy about is, they took my money when I placed the order, not when it actually shipped, like most companies do.

That's one thing I wouldn't like at all.

IMHO,

Backorder means to call them and ask questions. Otherwise, I ordered a part and it showed up in 4 or 5 days.:whoop:

I have had good service from BDMPP so far. I purchased the new Medallion speedo and the ECH retro fit kit.
I was contacted several times giving me updates on the speedo and it did take a while but I was never promised anything they didn't deliver on and I was told both parts were on back order.
I also received the Mileage patches after they asked for a picture of my speedo

They seem to be trying and I'm not sure why some almost seem to want them to fail. This economy is hell and these are american jobs. There are many companies having a difficult time and downsizing like they have is no easy task.

The fact that BDM is still selling parts is something I don't think any other manufacturer who has gone under has been able to pull off.
Everytime I have spoken to them they seem to be trying and I hope they make it and will continue to support them

Dunno. It broke at the rear tab where it bolts to the frame. Would have been an easy fix with the welder, but I didn't want to roach the chrome. Re chroming probably would have cost as much as a new part.

And no, Dipshit didn't have anything to do with it. You know I won't let him anywhere near my bike!:)
