Hi guys, i need an advice from any of you regarding a BDM motor.
Somebody owes me $2500 and does not have the cash to pay. The purchased a BDM motor from somebody a while ago, while planning to put together a bike. It is a 117 SS motor and i assume was removed from a 2005 or 2006 because it comes with TP rocker boxes.
Anyways, he offered me the motor to pay off the debt.
The advice i need :
Is a title needed ? in order to register it or install it in any bike, since the motor is off the bike already.
How do i know if it is in working condition.?
I am planning to sell it afterwards, so i need to know all that before accepting his offer.
Thanks

get the CASH, to hard to tell mileage on motor or if it any good - without special equipment. would have to install and hope for best. I have a 2006 - K9 with over 42000 miles and does still run great - no major repairs, I did have to re-gasket the TP rocker at about 20000, but have been fine ever since. I would check with the DMV in your state about register & title work, also do what checking you could to make sure it is not stolen. JUST to many things to think about GET THE CASH

I agree too many worries for you to deal with, if you had a guarentee of the tracking, mileage, condition on the inside.

These are the questions that I have to ask myself every time I get the "good investment idea" what's the exit plan and how long?

What good does it do you if you don't have a home for it?

Can you spare the money until YOU sell it?

How long do you have to sit on the engine until YOU can move it and get YOUR cash?

I think too much work for you, and I would pass on the engine. But it isn't my money.
