Battery Info I Found

So I know this topic has been discussed a lot but I wanted to share some information I found in hope that it would help some folks. I know there are people who swear by Braille batteries, there are people running Deka, there are people running various other brands. So I have gotten 4 years out of my original batter and I went to fire it up Monday night and click, nothing. I am very impatient and didn't feel like waiting on a battery to be shipped to me so I started doing research. I work with a guy who bought a battery at O'Reilly that he has raved about so I looked it up. Here it is and it's $89 Super Start ETX20L - Power Sport AGM Battery | O'Reilly Auto Parts

Here is what I found that was interesting. Upon doing a little research on various HD forums and google I found out that this battery is made by East Penn Manufacturing who makes Deka batteries who also makes all of Harley's batteries. I found this exact same battery depending on the branding could range in price from $89 at O'Reilly to $109 at Autozone to more than that at a Harley dealership. Anyway, I got one today and I'm going to give it a shot. I am going to now replace my battery every 2 years anyway just so I don't have to worry about it leaving me stranded. I got lucky and it died in my garage this time but may not be so lucky next time. I'll keep everyone posted

Thanks for that info. Its a given that you pay more when they stamp a known name on it.

Thanks, I have one that is about 4 years old (always on a tender) and have been thinking about making another donation to HD.

Those 3 batteries are all 310 CCA, if I'm not mistaken. But Braille is closer to 450 CCA and it's not the same. If I'm in a bind, I'll keep Oreilly's in mind, but as long as I have time to wait a few days, I'll keep going with Braille. Thanks for the info.

Where do you guys get the Braille battery? I went to fire my bike up last night and it initially started fine, I let it warm up for a couple minutes and shut it down while I was waiting on my buddy, once we got ready to leave 5 -10 minutes later it would not start. It turned over a few times and then just a click, click. It finally started but I'm concerned it's the battery and I'm Daytona bound next week.

They are 310 CCA which is more than the 270 CCA in my stock battery that lasted 4 years. Just one question, you guys with the Braille batteries and 450 CCA. Can you actually ride them like 20 miles just with the starter if you take the plugs out??? Sorry I'm a smart ass...
