Bandit Clutch grinding into inner primary

I have an 05 bigdog chopper. Since I installed the clutch kit from Bandit for these bikes I always had metal in my primary oil. I brought my bike to Bourgets of south florida because of a tranny problem and they also found the bolts that hold the gear on the bearing carrier that the started goes against was grinding into the inner primary and also the bolts that hold the tranny to the inner primary were hitting also. Anyone had a problem like this? I called Bandit and I have to send pics to them on friday.

i ordered it with clutch from bandit and had them install bearing also.

no bolts backet out. Its wierd. So far can't figure it out. Nothing is hitting outer primary like in 05chopp picture just on inner. To me it looks like the piece that they made (carrier) that hols bearing might be made wrong. But we will see.

05 chop. did you grind down the spot in the outer primary that they tell you to in directions? In pic it doesn't look like it has been.

mine ground into the inner prmary abou an 1/8 inch in spots

I wouldn't be against removing some material with a die grinder within reason. I would call the manufacturer and see if they have an explanation first.

I did and they tole me to measure a few spots and if everything is aligned to break out the dye grinder. They said with extra HP it might be flexing. Then they said I wight have to go to a open belt drive with a outer support. But shit that expensive. Like $3000 rite?

First off you don't need a bearing support on a 3" unless your drag racing. And you can get a open belt for as little as $2700 if you know where to go.

I have fitted an bandit clutch on my 05 Chopper and had no problems at all - from the picture you posted it does not look like the piece of the inner primary that needs to be ground down has been and that could be part of your problem - secondly are you sure the original clutch bolts were not used, the clutch bolts that Bandit supply are shorter than the standard bolts so this could also be an issue.

I didn't post any pics. And I definitly used the bolts from the kit. I have been talking to bandit. and so far we figured out there is something wrong with the tranny or the new carrier I bought from them. While its installed on the trans shaft it is tucked in to far to the inner primary by measuring it. I Have a guy looking into the trans first to see if there is something wrong with the input shaft, then they asked me at bandit to possibly send the carrier back so they can measure it. I had this problem since I first installed there clutch.

Snap ring inside trany took a shit?Does bandit use a shim washer between the inner primary and the basket? 05chop:loony:

checking trans. and they didn't say anything about a shim. We will see.

ARE you going to check trany?If so check for metal in the oil.Drain a little out and see what it looks like. 05chop

So far no metal in trans oil.

I've seen the same thing on another guys outer primary from a Bandit set-up. Your outer primary needs to be relieved so the clutch no longer makes contact with it. Yep, grind those support fins back a touch and it will be fine.

Ditto - Are you up and running? Because the EZ Pull went to shit I'm thinking of a bandit also and having Bourgets do the install because they went through the learning curve with you...

I have the bike back. But I haven't had the time to ride it. It wasn't the outer that was hitting it was the inner. I did the install of the bandit and relieved the outer fin myself. there is no problem there. they had to shim the basket off of the trans so it wouldn't hit. John was the guy at bourgets that shimmed it for me. If you have taken the primary appart yourself you could probably do the install. It is pretty simple.
