Bandit Clutch, anyone ever need to increase spring pressure?

I'm installing a bandit clutch in a K9. The rider is pushing 300 lbs, sometimes rides 2 up, and is the aggressive type. I was thinking of shimming the springs to get a little more pressure. Lever pull isn't going to be such an issue here. Anyone ever increase spring weights, or am I worrying about nothing?

Thanks guys

:flag: I`ve always found that the manufacturer`s recommendations hold a lot of valuable information if you take the time to give them a read. Just sayin`.

Moe, I had to put the "thick" shims in mine because they would slip in higher gears with the way I ride. I could careless about clutch pull as long as the pressure is on those plates when I want it! During the install I followed the instructions and all that did was make me have to purchase more primary oil to start back over. But hey live and learn right, that is why we purchase tools.

Am I missing something, or does Bandit have a section in the instructions that recommends spring pressures for 300 lb riders who do holeshots with their girlfriends on the back? I've actually done a few Bandits but don't remember ever using the shims. I'll start with the 2 fat ones and see what we get. Thanks Henry!

I recently had the Bandit Bruiser clutch w/bearing carrier installed.
The standard coil springs will slip when in 3rd gear and getting on it. :bang:
Will try the next springs medium or heavy duty mind you this is a stock 05 chopper with BR pipes and re-jetted.
Have adjusted the free play at the clutch lever 1/8 to 1/4" and down below 1/4 turn backed off after finger tight.
Anyone else have it slip after new install?

The Bandit clutch plates are made of Kevlar and will slip until the break in miles (1,000) are completed.

not sure if this is the same instructions you have, it wasnt what I received, I was given a copy from my dealer to help with the shim install on page 2.

Hope it helps

I am running no shims and can pull 2nd gear power wheelies with my Ridgeback!!!!

It's all in the lube!!!!

Some lubes slip others don't.

I run the Amsoil Gear lube in mine as per Bandits input! The only reason the put Bel Ray and Golden in the
instructions is that they are easy to find. That is what they told me when I bought my clutch.

They also said B&M Auto trans fluid works great with with their clutch!!!

NO HD lube or standard primary fluid !!!
