Baffles in factory exhaust

Hello everybody I am new to site and wanted to see if you could help me out. I just purchased a 08 K-9 and wanted to know if there is anyway to remove the baffles from the factory exhaust or do I need to purchase a new set? Bike runs great and looks great but I traded in my 76 shovel head and I just feel like this 117 CI motor should be at least a little bit louder than what it is. Gotta love those Cali folks for emission controls.

Thanks for your help and great site you have here.

The factory exhaust uses a one piece muffler so the baffles can't be removed without completely cutting the muffler apart. I recently drilled out both the front and rear plugs in mine and found it to be an easy job. In fact the 2008 plugs are thin metal and tack welded at just one point. I suggest you remove the muffler, drill a pilot hole in the two plugs on the front (engine) side and use this hole to pull the plugs loose. The two rear plugs are in about nine inches so you can simply punch these out from the front end. Sounds good and deep, but not too loud.

Nice looking bike, and it's in the kitchen lol!

I punched out my mufflers when I first bought mine, but it was too raspy for my tastes. It did make a difference in power though.

Thanks everybody, drilled out my exhaust and put it on the dyno yesterday, I actually did not have to re-jet, everything look good for the air/fuel and jumped almost 10 hp. Amazing what just letting your motor breathe can do. Sound much better to.

Yeah my garage is being worked on and I dont know about any of ya'll but I'm not gonna let my baby sit outside! The G/f is only mad that we couldnt get both of them in, hers is in the M/C trailer.
