Bad Clutch...Bad Bad Clutch

Haven't seen this posted so I thought I would share. A couple of weeks ago while riding my clutch cable went completely limp, then magically fixed itself. Weird huh? Then a few says ago same thing but this time no magic.I've replaced clutch cabe and adjusted mine a few times so I figured this is what it needed, no big deal right? Wrong.....after much investigation, the nut that holds the clutch too the shaft located inside the primary case had backed off almost to the point of falling off. There was no evidence of Locktite on threads, probably a little oversite when the bike was first assembled huh? Anywho after proper tightening and a drop of red locktite all is well.:loony:

There is much discussion on this forum regarding this issue. Many have had reocurring issues with the clutch nut backing off. Try searching this topic for proper torque specs. You will want to clean threads well then dry torque to spec, remove nut and apply loctite and re-torque to spec.

Haven't heard the symptoms you describe, but clutch hub nut issues have been an issue. No problem yet for me ( knock on wood)
