PZNIVYCHOPPER, These electrical problems can be hard to find sometimes. From what you are saying with the flashing lights and the shut down, then being able to restart sounds to me like there is a bad wire or connection shorting or breaking power. The ehc is like a circuit breaker/switch that will shut itself down to protect the system if there is a bad circuit. I would suggest the next time the bike shuts down leave the switch on and coast to a safe stop and note what lights ect. is still on or not on. Also check the red led on the ignition module and see if it is on. Also check the ehc leds on the ehc and note which are on and which are off. Come back here and tell what you see for help. Now the ehc will fail and has many times here but I believe that the ehc gets blamed for everything electrical when often it is something else. One other thing I have seen is the ignition module will get hot and shut down but since the bike will start right back up I don't think its the issue here but who knows. I went to the WirePlus system because its a better system, not as sensitive and it is sealed up great to protect against the weather.

Thank you everyone !!! Wish I could tell you it is fixed. Just don't know until I ride. Spent most of the night and this morning. Trying to see if i missed something. If I did I wont know until I take her out and they are calling for rain so it wont be today. Oh yea i forgot I do have a job.LOL Anyway I will give an update asap. Thank you so much for all your advice. I would be lost without you guys. If it happens again I will try to check the ehc lights. But at this point I think I have done as much as I know how to by myself.
I see a wire plus in my future...... Thanks again

Might not be this but I had a battery wire bolt not tight enough...

It was tight that the bike would start but then it could shut down due to vibration. I tried touching the connectors and I could barely move/turn them on the bolt by pushing on it. Seems they were tight but not tight enough cuz I gave them some extra tightning and the bike hasn't stopped since.

Also, change battery every year. For those that have winters like me, ditch the battery in spring and get a new one.

The switches are temperamental. Last year Kaptian Amerika and I were passing a group of HD's on a two lane and at about 125 mph my bike shut down with a loud back fire. Pulled over turned the key off and then back on and it started right up. When we got to Wichita Jason hooked it up to his laptop and the ignition module showed that it had a shutdown with time and miles.
Another thing to is I've never gotten more than a year out of my batteries. Always leaving me stranded on the side of the road.
I would pull your EHC plugs and ensure they are full of die-electric grease as the service update requires all shops to do now.

Hope you get it fixed
Agrees with Ray and I still have this feeling that my old battery had something to do with my EHC dying at 80 mph 60 miles from home. When mine died it would do anything at all. I will change my battery out this time before it gives any issues.

I couldn't help but notice that Ray "The Pirate" could have possibly just admitted to severly "Breaking The Law!!! Breaking The Law!!!"

Your funny Ray. We have to ride together one of these days

Maybe some more details of the riding conditions? What was the temp outside? How long have you been riding when it happened?

Going off what you have said so far and the flash of the tach when it shuts off I would suspect a crank position sensor is faulting out and needs to be replaced. Not to expensive of a part and easy to change out. I would start there before I started doing a R&R of your electrical system.

FREEDOM!!!
Hi Dave,

Really sorry to hear that the shutdown happened again after the ignition switch change. I've been traveling since we got together and didn't see your post until now. As mentioned earlier, changing the battery or cam sensor are not too expensive of options but it is hit or miss if it solves your problem. Also as mentioned before, the only way to narrow down the troubleshooting is to document all of your lights on the EHC and IM with the key left on at the time of the event.

Next option is to get an electrical schematic of your bike and take everything apart piece by piece, examining wire condition, pin condition, continuity tests, ohm out wires, etc, on circuits that can cause ignition shutdown.

Lastly, if your going to all of the work above consider, as mentioned before, pissing on the EHC and installing the WP.

Regardless of what you decide my offer stands that I will be glad to come over to your house and work with you until it's solved or you can bring your bike to my place and we'll throw it up on the lift and go at it.

I'll be in NC next week but after that I haven't scheduled any more flights so let me know. I'll set up my work around your schedule, no problem.

Hang in there Buddy!!! I know this is killing you but there is a logical reason and it can be fixed!!!

:cheers::cheers::cheers:

update

I hate when you don't get an update on advice given, So let me say took a ride yesterday after hours of checking and double checking. It was good,But I didn't buy this bike to go 40 miles and say thank god nothing happened. So as soon as I can put in some real miles, I just don't know. Again as of yesterday OK, Thank you again and will keep you all updated. If you guys give advice to me or anyone else. The least you deserve is an update and a big thank you.
