anyone know anything about turbolators

for S&S super G carbs? I found these on line and was wondering if anyone here knew anything about how effective they might really be.

SS Carburetor Kits Parts for Harley Davidson

I figured that if they really work it couldn't hurt those of us with smaller fuel tank capacities. Seemed to be a small price to pay for better fuel economy and a little better performance.
Input away brothers.

Looks like a fine mesh screen to me.
Suspect that if you were getting poor mixing of your air/fuel it might help but on the other hand it will likely slow down the air/fuel mixture velocity into the cylinders. This is turn could hurt your low end torque and potentially starve your motor for fuel at the very top end.

Looks like snake oil to me. That's my 2 cents.

Worthless. Have personnally used one on my Suburban (same concept). Theory sounds plausable but did not notice any improvement in efficiency.

seems so far the general consenus is 'snake oil' and since better and more knowledgable minds here seem to agree I am inclined to believe them. It did seem odd to me how it worked in principal. I suppose by using the screen it "reatomizes" the air/fuel mixture somehow?
This is why this site is such a great place. Need to learn something? Youv'e come to the right place. :)

what does the carb spacer do Sul? is it just to get the air cleaner a bit more out in the open?

Plenum spacers increase the total area of the intake manifold, which helps build mid-range and high-rpm horsepower.

The turbulators are not "fine mesh screens". I believe you are looking at the photo for the "Atomizers." The manufacturers of turbulators assert that the product demonstrates the following effects:

- Turbulators use a fixed-vane vortex design that turns your intakes into violent mixing chambers
- These vanes eliminate heavy droplets of fuel, fuel stacking and keep fuel from puddling
- The result is no more load or dive spots; just crisp, clean throttle response throughout the power band
- Complete atomization also increases fuel mileage and eliminates standoff

Here is a link to another site that carries turbulators and might be more helpful:

Digs up a post from 08 on this?

Whatever he is selling I aint buying! Just looking at that thing you can tell it doesn't work. No way those little fins force the air into some amazing "Vortex".

You need X number of CFM's depending on your engine displacement, RPM, and with engine modifications taken into consideration. I dont see how moving the air differently through the carb has any impact.

On a side note maybe the girlfriend can use these as cookie cutters? :loony:
