Ok, here's some pictures with the test piece taped to the air cleaner. I think I'm going to do it, I really like the look. If I get sick of it, there's pleanty on ebay to swap out .

Butch, that's really nice. The flames almost look like a continuation from the air cleaner to the electrical cover in the 3rd pic, like a single piece.

I think the paint is nice and it looks good on its own. When on the bike it becomes a little too much for me. That's just my opinion your bike your life.

On a side note if you ever want to go back and need a stock air cleaner I got two virtually brand new ones in the garage. Just hit me up I'll give it to you for a good price.

Seeing as I get bored easily, I might take you up on that offer. Debating weather to shave down the raised portions on the air cleaner before painting it, so it's completely smooth.

Looking good, have any completed pictures on the bike, or is this a work in progress?
Sorry for the late reply. Took a long time for me to find this thread again. Attached are the same two finished parts. Ive had them on there for about 2 years now. I put the 117 on the coil cover as I wanted people passing me to see it (on multi-lane roads) and I also wanted a simple air intake design. Mark Sporka did them here in Jax.air intake.jpg coil cover.jpg
