Another rookie question

Finally replaced my clutch cable the other day that I broke after replacing my throw out bearing and clutch hub nut. And when I took the bike for a ride the noise I was hoping to eliminate was still there. I also noticed my clutch pushrod looked a little scored. So I ordered one from baker. While talking to the rep I described the noise to him and he seemed to think it was the clutch hub bearing. There is the question. If I order the machined clutch basket from shovelheadkicker with the bearing in it is that the bearing I need to replace? Also while pulling the primary apart again is there anything else I should be replacing like seals, o rings, other bearings. Thanks

Yes Derek bought a lot of them, I think. There was a lot of like 20+ on eBay one time. And you don't have to buy the inner hub.

With that said I don't foresee that bearing going bad however. I doubt that is the cause of noise but you can take it apart to see. That bearing is HUGE should outlast any amount of miles most will ever put on a BigDog. It's about the same size bearing I have on my 4x4 1500 truck on the front wheel hub.

I think the splines on the inner hub would fail before that bearing does. Or if you have the stock carrier that would certainly break before.

you can check the teeth on the inner bearing hub, baker has an updated one.

I beg to differ young grasshopper, my inner hub did go bad from the clutch hub nut coming loose, when I spin it in my hand I can feel the click or indent the bearing had made in the hub. At that time it was not the hardened hub.

I did say the inner hub would go bad BEFORE the bearing...go reread my post.

If OP just replaces the bearing I don't think he fixes his problem. Was where I was going. Which is what Baker seems to have been implying.

The one from Derrick and Donna doesn't come with the inner hub either.

The bearing will take out the inner hub, yes, so changing the inner bearing is not going to fix the inner hub

I think it depends on their inventory, but he will prolly get the billet one would be my guess because the cast have been used up, he can ask.

A new inspection cover gasket, 1 quart of primary oil, check your chain tension 5/8-7/8"play and look to see if you have the hard coated pressure plate, its a yellowish dark green color, not shinny aluminum. When the clutch disc's and plates come out, stack them so they go back in the same way they came out.
