Another homemade pad

Thanks to okie-dog's inspiration I got busy and fabbed a backplate and pad for my sissy bar. I used Dzus quarter turn fasteners to hold it all together. I did take the pad to a local shop for a leather cover to match the p pad. It turned out ok. I only have $80 in it and that was for the leather cover. :2thumbs:

I think it's same concept as the stock ones....the bolts pulling it tight to the bar. Maybe

I taped off the back of the plate and sprayed the edges that contact the bar with rubber undercoating. I have the wood routed out to the shape of the bar and the leather wraps around and makes it a bit tighter.

Yeah the Dzus fasteners suck the plate tight to the wood on the pad as well as the bar.

Ok, was thinking some type of rubber or tape type substance, but couldn't see it in the pic. It looks good...:2thumbs:

If needed... (as in the stock ones) just use some double sided tape between the plate/pad & bar. It works. :2thumbs:

Cause it was sitting in the corner of the shop doing nothing.....my Dog aint everyones cup o tea, but the diamond plate fits with the rest of it.

That's what I was wondering..if you had other pieces diamond plated as well.

That's what I was wondering..if you had other pieces diamond plated as well.

I did a front fender brace/mini fender with the original piece. That didn't get a great response either, but that's good. If too many people like it I did something wrong. :loony::loony:

The angle of the bars is stopping that. The side bars are not perfectly parallel preventing it from sliding down. As long as the screws stay tight and secure I dont see the problem.
