Another electrical problem

Need some help with an electrical problem on my 08 k9. With Key on I have power to everything but when I push the start button nothing. I replaced both handlebar switches last year. Check all my wires cleaned all my connections. Is just installed a new battery. Went for a ride 2 days ago everything was fine. Stopped at a buddy's house and it wouldn't start. I kept trying and it finally went. Now nothing, I have a DOC'S system. I have a slam button that will start it but not recommended with DOC. Going to check the throttle side switch again. Just wondering where to look next. Thanks

Check your battery. Takes a lot of amps to turn the motor over to crank. Even though you have power, it could be a battery/compression release problem. Just my 2 cents.

For sure start with the battery. That’s the new thing in the system. Do a load test on it. Not all new batteries are good… ask me how I know. Then call Jeff. According to him his EHC is bulletproof… he should hopefully be able to help you figure out what is going on.

When you press the run and then the start buttons (in that order), you should be able to feel with your finger the compression releases work. There will be a slight pause before the starter kicks in. If this is not happening, you will need to eliminate what is working and what is the culprit. My first inclination is your battery. Seems big dogs like the deka ETX20L. It has 310 cold cranking amps. Next, I would focus on the buttons on the handle bars. The PC boards may be corroded or possibly not making contact. There is always the possibility that the ehc has gone belly up (shot). I have replaced an ehc on my 08, which had only 3400 miles.

Follow the voltage. When you hit start button are you getting voltage to the starter? If not trace it back and find out why. If you are then maybe starter. Tried your slam button? I know it’s not “recommended “ but would be ok to see if it works. Good luck. But yes as Mick said Deka is the only battery the BigDog likes.

Agree that the Deka is a very good battery, but i also say that Duraceii is every bit as good being as they are made by the same manufacturer and come out of the same plant. Both have been in my 02 Pit and have preformed exactly the same. That being said, your bike, your choice.
