air cleaner

Have s&s air cleaner on engine and the crank case breathes back through the carb, should there be or how much oil generally drips out the back and then drips on engine. How normal is this or is this a greater problem that needs taken care of. Sorry if this is basic S&S knowledge but, this is my first American bike, last bike was metric.. Need some advice from all you S&S guru's.

well,
it's somewhat normal. All depends on how much oil. Shouldn't be that much really. Most guys just run a crossover tube with some fuel line down to the ground.

I've heard of some fellas putting a maxi-pad or some other absorbent material in there and it doesn't leak all over you or your bike anymore.

What engine do you have? 107, 113 Super sidewinder or 111, 117 124 super sidewinder plus. I ask this because your bike is listed as a 04 custom. The two different types of engine vent the heads in to the air cleaner differently

Hey X, I have mine vented to the bottom with the filter that is commonly called a puke can. It gets kinda oily too, nothing too much but there is always some oil down there and the harder I run it the more oil. I am a clean fanatic so it bothers me but I've been told its normal. My HD is a 99 Twin cam and I guess I kinda got used to that because nothing at all drips out. I kinda got spoiled by that 99, lol, because when I think before that, all the others with the EVO's did the same as my BD!
