A Big Dog Mileage program

After some recent talk here, about the original BDM mileage program, I'm looking to gauge genuine interest in the program and patches.

My thoughts are to use the original BDM patch design, and I have sent of an email to see if it's an option for us. If it's not, I will design something to mirror the BDM patch but different so I'm not violating any intellectual property laws.

Cost, I would have to investigate the cost, which will depend on the quantity ordered. I can't imagine it would be more then $5 a patch, hopefully lower.

My initial thoughts are the following mileages:

10k, 25k, 50k, 75k, 100k and anything higher we'll look into later. We'll do like BDM and require photo verification.

I have no odometer. I estimate my mileage by tally marks on the wall of how many tanks of gas I've used.
My honor is good, but I don't think I will have any one questioning it.

I think it's great also, the only thing that I would like to see is a patch for every 5,000 mi, seems too far to go from 10,000 to 25,000, just my opinion though, and maybe we could have a section that we post picks of the bikes in just like on the orignal Big Dog site!

As far as patches, I think every 5k is too much and too many patches to sit on. I'd rather have the patches seen as milestones and worn on your jacket/vest. If there are to many, they will lack value I think.

Now, we can look at doing something on the forum with a user's title and a mileage banner beneath it.

As far as them lacking value I guess that depends on the person, you may be right as far as evey 5,000 is too much, maybe like you said we could do a banner every 5,000 instead of an actual patch. I think all in all it would be great to have something to show your hard earned miles!:2thumbs:

Why would you leave the old one on? I would remove the 5,000 and replace it with a 10,000 and so on....personally I don't wear a vest, so I would have to just staplegun it to my ole ladies forehead ....If she sees this I'm in deep caca :angry:

Kind of square. Think of all the patches you see on other peoples leather, which ones catch you attention the most? To me it's not the square ones. :zz2cents:

I agree with Pablo, there are not enough people that are going to put that kind of miles on their bikes, very few will ever reach 25,000 mi, I think the idea that Shannon had is great and I agree with him on the shape of the patch, personally I like the original Big Dog Patch shape, but I do think we need to have the additional mileage bars at 5,000 mi increments!
