You can find in on ebay as well. I've been experimenting on some scrap fenders and the stuff is pretty good and is thicker then I thought from the pictures.

It does not go around curves well thought. There was a big write-up on the product and the application in "American Bagger Magazine" a couple of months back....

I had a local detail shop put the stuff on my rear fender they had to stretch the hell out of it but it works reallly good

Put heat to it!!! Use a heat gun and heat it after tacking one end then pull and tack the other end. The stuff will lay right down! I have a computer cutter to do cars at the shop so I think I am going to start laying out BDM paint protection kits. We used to use 3M but it starts to yellow after about a year or so. We changes over to ClearShield and have been using that now for about 5 years with no yellowing issues.

I can design pieces for about anywhere with some dimensions.

Let me know if anyone is interested in kits.

I can also put together tools.

I ran a detail shop for a few years and Ridgeback is right. You must use a heat gun to get it to lay right, a fender is curved the film is flat. Clearshiel is the best out there, no yellowing. I once had a customer come into the shop with a white Vette he had someone put the 3M protective film on less than a year before and it was completely yellow. Removing it was a bitch! I replaced it with Clearsheld and to this day it still has not even begun to turn yellow.

I'll start putting together a Universal Clearshield kit this week. I'll get it laid out in the computer and figure material costs and run it but everyone on here. I should be able to put together a Clearshield brand kit that I can sell for less than any other 3M BDM kit.

Im my kit I would also include a basic instruction sheet with some pics and a rubber squeegee to install.

Let me know what you want in the kit. I had figured:

  • Rear fender cover large enough to cover area touched by passenger P-Pad
  • Small 1" trim ring to go around Paint Saver ring on Gas Tank
  • Strips to cover front side of down tubes & lower frame cross bar

How about a 1 piece to cover the area for both the seat & P-pad? That would work really nice!!:2thumbs:

I have been using the 3M stuff on cars for years and never had any yellowing issues.
I wonder if it is a chemical contact thing or just UV doing it.

The sun is a bit more harsh down here in Florida compared to PA. Anything will last up there compared to here.

The 3M yellows fast down here from the UV and extreme heat.

BDM,

Anything new on the Clearshield kit? I am in immediate need of a rear fender piece for the the seat & P-pad.

That was an issue I had with the other custom bike with passanger pad leaving scuff marks on fender. I would be intrested in a kit.

I used invisiblemask.com for the back fender and where my legs rub by the seat. That's a bad area on the Wolf. Easy to put on but you need a little patience. I put it on a couple of cars as well. You need to stretch it like Saran Wrap, but it's not as easy obviously. You can order just about any size piece you need.

Here is the problem I have. I can do a basic universal cut kit based on my Ridgeback because I can get measurements easy. These kits will sell as kits only.

I was asking who all was interested and what for. I got a bunch of responses of people wanting just the rear fender piece or just down tube pieces or this and another.

I have to do these in kit form to run them on the PC and make it worth while. I should be able to keep the price a good bit below the other companies selling them, but I have to sell as a complete universal set.

I am thinking:

Rear fender P-Pad protection - fits 300/330 trim for 250
Downtube pieces - fit K9/Ridgeback/chopper trim to fit prostreet bikes
Gas cap trim ring
Pieces for front of tank - basic shape, may need trimed for skinny tanks

Can you put 1 large piece on the rear fender and totally cover it? (2009 Mastiff) That's more interesting to me than having strips of it in various spots.

I could buy that now. And if it's really good I expect it to be expensive; price isn't a deciding factor.

PM me if you can sell a piece like that.
