300 rear tire mounting ?

I haven't been able to do it. There is very little dish in our rims and even a tire changing machine has a hard time. My brother and I were able to put his tire on a spoke rim though as it has more dish.
Front is pretty easy though.

Removing a 300 by hand would be very difficult. I have a tire machine and have changed 330/30 car tires and found it is easier to break the bead with the changer and then cut the tire off. Going on is easy. One of the problems I can see having without a tire machine would be not being able to hold the wheel down with the forces needed.
I have a new 300 to put on mine so I will have this experience personally very shortly.

I put a new 300 on a new wheel by hand. It was a bitch. The first bead was easy. It took 3 of us to do the second bead. I haven't had to dismount one yet. I'm sure next summer I'll get to try it. The closest place (that I know of) with a tire machine that can handle 300s is 200+ miles away.
I think I might have to design a tool to do it myself. I'll probably cut the old tire off.

The shop I use for tires cannot handle a 300. I've been wondering what I'll do when it comes time for a new one. The BD dealership told me it would cost about $500 with labor. I've never purchased a 300 but it seems awful expensive to me. The guy at Cycle Gear told me he could mount it "old school" but I'm beginning to wonder if that's a good idea after reading this thread.
