2nd stator to go bad in 8000 miles on the Mutt.. Anything that might cause this? Replaced the voltage regulator last year as well. :bang:

first one was replaced just before I bought the bike at 2000 miles. No info, just that it was replaced. Probably won't get to take a look at this one until next weekend. Have to travel for work all week. What should I be looking for as I'm going in. Have not pulled a stator in probably 25 years. I had a loose stator plug back a few weeks ago that I siliconed back in place. Is it possible that a wire pulled in the plug. Is their any way to test the stator after the primary is opened up?

Have to agree pretty solid items. Unusal to have them go out so quick.

Now some of the crotch rockets may got thorugh them sooner, including to my Buell (though I have not had it happen yet). They go out due to not getting proper cooling and thus the coils get overheated and breakdown.

Unusual for a V-Twin though.

Check the tips and make sure it is the Stator and not something else or something else causing it to fail.

I had the plug come loose on mine as well. When I replaced the stator and rotor i hard wired the stator to eliminate the problem.
