Ok all my brothers and sisters, Bought the wife a new 2011 HD Deluxe. No she did not want a DOG as much as I tried.Go figure. Anyway,Need some of the talent we have here. I just want to swap the pipes. V&H big-shots. they are telling me I need sert, module, air intake, and all these other things. Big $$$. The damn thing sounds like a lawn mower next to my dog. Any advice would be appreciated.
Constructive advice.! I don't want to go to the HD Forum when I know the talent is HERE..
Thanks David:flag:

A lucky man u are, congratulations.

You should change the air filter to Screaming Eagle or equivalent. Reflash the module or a TTS Mastertune to update the Delphi module.

I think Mad Dog may have updated his new Road King so he should have the skinny on it as well.

The stock Harleys run EPA lean from the factory. Changing the pipes is not going to a real difference so you do not need have to change the air cleaner and put on any tuning module. Changing the air cleaner as well as the pipes and doing at the minimum the HD stage 1 ECU flash will make the bike run slightly better.

There are two versions of the Screamin' Eagle tuner, one which only allows canned maps to be downloaded to the ECU and one which allows customization. If all you ever plan to do is change the pipes (and maybe the air cleaner) you can get by with the Stage 1 flash. You could also get a V&H Fuel Pack tuner.

V&H pipes with the Fuel Pak would be OK. At that point I would also think about changing the air cleaner, at least a better filter than stock.

Nice bike for a Pretty Lady!

I have known 2 women who have had these bikes. They both loved them. And one of them let me ride hers on a pretty long ride.

Mine's still stock. Haven't messed with it yet. You have a catalytic converter on there that will hold things back. You will get a better sound changing the pipes but unless you get rid of that cat. you won't notice as much performance gains. If you just do pipes you will still need to richen it up a bit.

Check with "Alhall88". He just got a 2011 last fall and has been doing all the mods and has a good handle on these new HD's.:2thumbs:

I bought a 2009 FLTR almost 2 years ago, I installed a set of slip-on exhaust, S/E air cleaner setup, and V&H FuelPak. If thats all you want to do then you'll be okay. Anything else and the FuelPak can't keep up because of its limitations. If you plan on cams, engine upgrades, etc. you might want to look at a different tuner, Power Commander, SERT, Fuel-Moto
my set up works and it is very simple....

You'll get tons of replies on this but lets first ask is this what you want or what she want's because you could spend some coin but if you just need some more sound then it's easy. I personally would call Jamie at fuel moto as I have been burning his ear off about all the options. For the wife personally I would throw a set of slip on on and leave it alone, the stock ecm will handle that. If she complains about heat then take it up a notch and add the air cleaner and tuner. If you go with the PCV from fuel moto he will supply you with fuel maps for life so you can change anything you want.
