2010 K9 EFI wire plus, bike just died at 70 mph

Bike has been running great, but im running down the freeway at 80 mph and engine light comes on for a second and bike stumbles for a sec, light goes out and like 30 seconds later engine light comes on very faint and bike wants to stumble again, few seconds later light comes on fully again and bike stumbles, i then slow down to 70 mph and lights on the speedo start flashing, blinker lights on the speedo come on solid , i roll off the freeway and realized the bike had died, it then back fires and i come to a stop and the horn starts going off, bike was freaking out, i turn key off and back on and no fuel pump, but display lights on the speedo appear to be normal, at this point same thing every time , turn key on and not fuel pump but lights on the speedo seem normal, besides checking wiring for bare wires where can i start for troubleshooting, what is the sequence of events after you turn the key on? this bike has the wire plus system installed. new battery as of 4 weeks ago. could i have a short maybe be in the controls? i beleive this is a good diagram for my system.

Possible VFI problem, use ProTune and see if it generated a fault.

check the battery connections -- I had something close to this happen not long ago and the battery terminal felt snug but were not tight enough in reality -- lost my tach because of it!

ok looking at the components and wiring i found this box and i tiny hole blown out and it smells burnt, is there a way to install the doc system in place of the WP system, who is this doc guy that can help maybe

They are on back order and I have to wait 30+/- days, I have Laughin run next week with rooms already paid for, I'm screwed I just might buy the WP box throw it in ţo get me back on the road.

Sorry brother...I only have the other module which I kept. That same module was the one that fried on me it's the power module.

so when this happened to you did you replace the module, and that was the fix, im just worried that maybe there was something that caused this box to blow

I went with Docs kit as well, so since I dumped all that money I went ahead and spent $100 on a new voltage regulator since it was the original one which is 12 years old anyways and actually just went ahead and got a new battery as well at that time.

If I were you I'd replace the VR as well must for piece of mind. Quite honestly my VR tested fine I just figured while I'm rewiring it won't hurt. One less thing to worry about later.

ok thanks for the info, the ESC kit is on back order so im on the wait list so im not without my bike im just going to buy the box for now

how reliable is that kit and where do i get it from, and what is the cost and can i replace the WP kit with ti?

I went with the RIP-II kit... 3 hour install. Might be an option.

You can't get the RIPII...you have the wire plus you need an entire new harness since you had to cut it up for WP install.

You can go with the RIP Gen I kit and Curtis may have those in stock ready to ship.
