Take the end plate off the starter solenoid( 3 small screws) Inside there is a rod with a large copper washer on it. (it's spring loaded, but wont just jump out) that copper washer makes contact with the 2 copper tabs in there, See them? set switch to run, key on, push that rod with the copper washer in, Engine crank? Don't let the washer assembly jump out of the solenoid when you let the pressure off also make sure the small green wire is pluged in to the solenoid. Or better yet listen to some of the others here with a whole lot more knowledge than I have!Hey fellas. I'm kind of new to this forum stuff so I'm trying to figure it all out. The bike is a 2008 big dog Mastiff. All connections have been went through and cleaned. I made sure everything was tight as I was putting it back together. The battery is brand new (I replaced it when this starting problem first occurred. The top post on the starter was a bit corroded but it's all cleaned up and back on tight now. When I turn the key on the headlight, tail lights, everything works and is very bright. You can hear what seems to be the fuel pump kick on when I press "run" but when I press "start" I get nothing. I'm guessing I may have a b.o. starter but maybe someone more experienced could possibly help me with some different ideas. I'm fairly new to all this. I appreciate any knowledge and information I get.

My bad! didn't consider right side drive. Can you get to the small green wire upper left side of the solenoid? Check for 12 volts there when you push the start button. If you have 12 volts there you'll need to get into the solenoid. If not 12 volts there, the trouble is back upstream towards the ECM or whatever you call the brain box, or the start button like Tyler said. Good luck and keep us posted. If I take the cover off of the drive belt is there any concern I need to have with moving clutch parts beneath the cover? I don't have enough room to get the three screws out without removing it it doesn't seem? Suggestions?
