2007 Bulldog Starting Problem

I have a 2007 Bulldog with fuel injection. This spring I had to replace the original battery. I bought a new battery from the local Harley dealer...320 CCA. Since installing it I have had problems getting the bike started. It acts like the compression releases weren't working, it'll turn over once and then lock up and all 4 turn signals flash. After several attempts it will usually start. The battery is fully charged and easily turns the engine if it doesn't lock up on the first try. I took the bike to a local shop, they say the compression releases are working properly, they can't seem to get a good handle on the problem. Any suggestions??

If the problem started since the Battery change, it could very well be the Battery.... ´"New doesn´t mean Good" Have it tested and if its not good ask to get it replaced, it should be under warranty?

There are plenty of threads on the forum about starting issues. Do a search for them. 320 amps is not enough for one of these big inch engines.

Also,it could be you're battery cables and connections or the starter itself.

320 cranking amps is fine, I run Harley batteries in my scoots and they have no issues starting them. If you have a dead cell then you'll have problems. That 12.5 volts will quickly drop to 7 or 8 and you won't be able to start the scoot and will see the symptoms your seeing. Get the battery load checked as Franco mentioned. Sounds like your battery is toast. Also when you first buy a battery you should charge it for at least 12 hours before using it. This is a good practice! JMHO

I just purchased a Harly 320 CCA and had to charge it first to start the bike, after that it was fine, occasionally when I hit the start button it will hesitate a second or 2 before turning over and the CR only activate for a half second after hitting the start button, I think they time out before the starter kicks in and you are trying to start without CR's. My .02ct on this
