Well the guy called me back and I was on the phone with the dude for over an hour! From what I can tell the guy is legit! Super cool dude! Says he's getting a lot of people accusing him of fraud and I was the first guy to just ask about the bike and not tell him he's full of shit! He says his name is Scott Hymen, or "Exreme Scott" is what people know him by, He owned "Extreme Cycle" in Massetchusetts, anyhow he seems to know a lot of the former Big Dog people and says he also knows Matt Moore! He gave me a few resources to call and ask people about him, the bike is in his shed and has some pitting on the rocker boxes and possibly some on the lower forks, he's right by the coast and it's been sitting there for years, here's a pic of it and the vin#'s, I really want this thing but I don't think I can swing it right now so maybe one of you guys can get it!2006 ridgeback.jpg 2006 ridgeback vin #.jpg
If not he say's he's gonna hold onto it and relist it in the spring for more money so it don't look like a scam! If anyone is really interested in it let me know and I will contact the guy.

Thanks for the update what I still can't wrap my head around is why did this guy not get the MSO and title straightened out with Big Dog? It's a 2006 they were in business for 5 more years then went to Parts at some point a phone call should have got him the title.

Remember you buy this it won't be listed as a Big Dog would have to be a custom. Just saying.

Another question I have is why Is a guy that owns a shop storing the bike in his shed? He knows the salt air is gonna destroy it.

Lots of polishing and sending parts off for chrome work to do! All new gaskets, tires etc. Look at the rust on the throttle cable! Actually based on what I see $6,000 is a bit much those heads can't be cleaned. Every chrome piece will need to be rechromed, the aluminium you can wetsand and repolish just lots of elbow grease.

My family lives in MA I'd love for my dad to pick it up but at that price and the work it's a little too much. $4,000 because you can't even resell those parts they are absolute junk.

Well Eric, he says he shut down his shop back in 07/08 and at that time didn't notice the MSO didn't match the bike, he put it in his shed and in the end of 2011 was gonna sell it and that's when he realized they didn't match, he got a hold of big dog and they said no problem we'll send you the right one, but then they shut down and he never got the MSO, anyway I don't think it's as bad as your making it out to be and with a little work it would be a nice bike, not perfect, but nice for the money. He said he'd sell it to me for $5,000.00 I think it's well worth that.

$5,000 is certainly better. I'm not saying it's a terrible deal and believe me I love 300 Ridgebacks.

I'm just thinking how much you'd be in this for to make it look decent. I'd suspect $5,000. Obviously you can't save those heads. I suspect the fork sliders and headlight are pitted beyond reasonable running as well. That is $1,000 right there you might be able to get them re-chromed for 400-500?

I like the project, trust me I really do. I just never have done a project that large that stayed on budget, thats why I'm suspecting $5k. Especially if you want to replace the EHC for another $700. Things add up quick! I just know I couldn't rebuild a dog and not want it back to near new.

I rebuilt one in much better shape and it still ran me $3,000.

Yea, you are definitely right about that, and I just spent a shitload on my bike this year too, that's why I prolly won't do it but I thought it might be a good project for someone looking for a bike.

Trust me I love the project! And I would do it for the fun of it because in the end you'd be lucky to break even that's all I'm saying.

You are right it's not a bad project for the right person. And a part of me wants to do it but I don't have the funds at the moment.

It's cool that you talked to him too! Glad it's not a scam

I'm not hating either....in my opinion it's not a WOW what a great deal moment either.

I talked to this guy Scott , hes is pretty firm on the $6000 . But he is given 9 out of 10 on the condition of the bike, but he doesn't know if the bike starts , has chrome peeling all over, etc,
Also he said BDM sent him the wrong paperwork of the bike but he doesn't have it as a proof.

I wouldnt pay more than $4000 for that bike,

You can get a nice, running and legal ridgeback for $8000,
Just my opinion.

I agree with Alex. If it looks like a fish, smells like a fish, and feels like a fish, chances are it's a FISH!!
Safe trails.. :chopper:
