2006 chopper no headlight,tag light, rpm's

hi, im posting this for my father-in-law. he has a 2006 chopper and last week the starter was acting up so he removed it to get it rebuilt. when he bought the bike it came with rear air ride. I think he had some problems with it(im not sure) but he removed the air shock and reinstalled the stock shocks years ago. everything worked great. but last week he removed the starter and while he was in their he also removed the air ride pump. he broke the connector for the electric solenoid and just taped the wires off. he reinstalled the starter and now the bike starts great but he has no headlight(the high beam light flashes), the tag light will flicker lightly, and the rpm's wont light up on the tach. the air ride went through the hand controls and im thinking maybe the air ride solenoid needs to be replaced then reinstalled.
what do you guys think?

thanks, rob

Is he positive he didn't inadvertently short the two wires together?
The headlight and air ride circuits are tied together to work through the EHC.
Also check the EHC for LEDs indicating shorts.

is there a fuse panel on these bikes? im not saying he couldn't have shorted the wires out, but I could only find two fuses on the bike. and both were good.

I am going to reiterate what I said before.
Did he completely isolate the two compressor wires?
Since that was the last thing he did before this occurred I am leaning heavily towards that. He needs to find those two wires, remove any covering and separate them. Then check the LEDs again. If the lights go out then you know they were shorted together.

Having said the above
There isn't a fuse panel per se.
The EHC has all the circuit breakers inside it and they are supposed to reset after a malfunction.
First try disconnecting the battery and wait 10 minutes before you connect it again.
Turn the key on and check the EHC again.
After that try the following, it only works if you have the "Smart" EHC which being an 06 he may or may not have.
Hold the left blinker button in
Turn on the key and continue holding the left blinker button in until the EHC has gone through its startup procedure. It usually takes 3-8 seconds.
If everything resolves to the startup procedure then there are no issues. If it locks up and say some LEDS are on and a blinker is on then there are issues with the EHC.

kap, thanks for all of your help. the two wires were never touching. we did order a new switch and reinstalled the air ride but with no fix. he brought it over to my house today so I can work on it in my garage. on the way over(about a 15 min ride) half way here he said the flashing high beam light went out and the head light came on but wasn't that bright. by the time he got to my house it went back to not working. I have pulled the tank off and stared to trace wires. why are their so many connectors??? I haven't found anything bad yet but this bike is hard to follow the wires. anyone else have any other ideas. its strange that the led tag light will flicker then go out looking weak the whole time. I have cleaned all of the pos and neg wires that I can find.

well I was finally able to get the head light apart.. the bulb is blown, I hope I didn't do it during my diagnostic work. if a head light is blown will it flash the high beam light?
