2005 pitbull is my VR bad

Hi brothers and sisters. So I’m have in an issue with my charging system and I think it’s the VR. I just bought the bike and noticed that the VR has been hit and is bent. It was hanging on by one screw. I re attached it with both screws and I’m checking the voltage and this is what I get. Off the trickle charger 14.4

Key on position 13

Start up drops to 12.8

Revving the engine first to 13.5

Once I turn I lit off it’s at 12.6 and the bolts start to go up to 12.9 which the engine off

Is my VR dead. Please help I’ve been going nuts with this. Also the bike won’t start after it’s at 12.6 and starts to misfire thru the exhaust with popping noise.

Thank Fam. Happy Memorial Day to you all.

Replace it. With it damaged, ya just never know. These Dogs need a solid power supply or weird things start to happen. Batteries seem to be the most common issue, but the entire electrical system needs to be in good condition.
I ordered one and will replace it. Thanks man. I also installed a new deka battery seems very strong. Also. I see some fuel in the gas tank but can I be low on fuel even if I can see some fuel in there? It sound like it’s low on fuel. It comes on then starts to stall even with. The choke all the way open

I just like my Freedom
Choke should not be needed. Twist of the throttle and start. Take a look @ the two rubber/silicon caps on the carb. They will dryrot crack and suck air. Cheap to replace. Its also possible you have an obstruction in the tank, ie peeling tank liner, debris ect. You may have to go thru this Pit to make sure of what you have and what needs fixin? Just keep posting. We have all had issues. Thats why we here.

It’s a cheap fix. Like $70 or something. Have some wire cutters and zip ties and patience….. and beer.
I opted for chrome to replace the black… looks great, works great.
