I know its not a Big Dog, but this is one nice custom built bike that my friend has up for sale at a great price $10,500. If anyone is interested give Doug a call at 608-783-3684 and tell him that Neumann sent you.

This one-of-a-kind bike was built in 2004 around a Kenny Boyce – California Pro-Street rubbermount chassis. Built as our shop bike at DOUGZ Custom Paint & Fabrication LLC in La Crosse, Wisconsin the bike was featured in the Jan/Feb 2007 issue of IronWorks Magazine. The most attractive part about this chassis is that the rider sits low in a Softail style ‘pocket’ with the advantage of a rubber-mounted engine for unbelievable comfort on long rides.

In 2008, when S&S Cycle Inc. celebrated their 50th Anniversary, DOUGZ was one of 50 builders in the world asked to build a bike for the ‘Top 50 Custom Bike Builders’ competition. The DOUGZ entry won the coveted “People’s Choice” Award along with taking 2nd Place in the X-Wedge category. At the end of the day DOUGZ entry was the second place bike of the event. The same attention to detail went into the bike you’re looking at here. No cheap parts or poor fabrication.

The bike currently has 10060 trouble-free miles on the odometer, is ridden weekly and as you’d expect, there are a few little nicks in the paint from actually USING the bike – this is NOT a show bike, although some people think it is when viewing it up close. The two main colors - a luxurious Champaign Silver and Rootbeer Kandy are separated by a subtle graphic using a Blue-to-Red color shifting design laid over a Tangerine Kandy hue'd Ultra mini rainbow metalflake graphic that screams for attention in sunlight and under the street lights. The images don't come close to doing this paint justice - it truly has to be seen to be appreciated. The bike is known as DOUGZ ‘Convertibagger’ and viewing the images will explain why – the bike can easily be converted from a touring bike, to a stripped-down cruiser in under 30 minutes, and in the stripped-down mode there are no visible indications that the bike can be set up for touring. I've had many people ask if the Motor Company purchased this 'convertible' idea from me for some of their current models... It comes with all components including the saddlebags, windshield and passenger seat (removable).

Here’s a short list of components used on this custom:

RC Components ‘Wizard’ wheels
Harley-Davidson detachable windshield
New battery in 2010
Avon tires - 180/16 Rear - 130/18 Front
Modified Arlen Ness rear fender
Carlini Mini Apehanger bars
Pro-One Mirrors
Performance Machine grips
Kuryakyn pegs/pedals
Jay-Brake front brake / GMA rear brake
Delkron Close-ratio 5 speed transmission
Kerker 2 into 1 exhaust
96 inch S&S engine

I have a friend who bought an Arlen Ness custom built for Xerox bike and it took the better part of a year to sell it. So, let your friend know not to be frustrated in this economy. Your friend can stick with the price but it probably won't sell without lowering it. There are plenty of really nice custom bikes with 124 S&S engines. A 96 CI engine isn't going to attract a lot of attention especially carrying all that weight around! A small back tire 5 speed transmission isn't going to help either. This is just my opinion.
