2004 117 motors.

I am posting this because in the 3 plus years I have owned my bike no one person could give me a straight answer. Everytime I asked I got a different response. So I will post this data to be a fact as I have torn my motor down and have had everything measured. The only problem you may have with your 04 117 is the production date. My production date was april of 04 so chances are if your bike was made after that it has the same configuration. There are still some who say that these are non epa motors but I doubt that at least after april. So here it is and I will give comparisons to my motor and a standard S&S 117 motor.
BIG DOG /// S&S
bore=4.125/// 4.125
stroke=4.375/// 4.375
compression=9.6/// 10.2
cylinder height=4.929/// 4.886
head cc=89cc/// 89cc
cam=.547 /// .600
intake valve=1.940/// 2.0
exhaust valve=1.575 /// 1.625

also a notable mention because the camshaft has such a low lift standard evo lifters were used so you have to install lifters with travel limiters or at a minimum some washers(which do the same thing) also called restrictors(back in the day) to limit lifter expansion.

So yours was at 9.6 even!! WTF You thought it was 10.2 and you are going to 10.6 right?

Yeah but tearing it down shows a different story. Shit big dog and S&S had no clue on what they did but these measurements were given to me by an ex motor builder from big dog several years ago but I didn't want to believe it. But it will be a whole different animal in the next day or two and the static comp. works out to be over 10.9.

So you had the same compression that I do now then... going from 9.6 to 10.9 will be insane!!!
