Afte starting up the dog for the season this year she has puked a big pool of oil from the oil vent. Someone had said something about the oil pump check ball getting stuck? Should I just drain the oil..put in some fresh and try again? or do I need to pull the cam cover and check the pump? Thanks...

What happens is oil bypasses a check ball in the oil pump and it goes into the crankcase. When started the oil which is not supposed to be there, gets whipped around and comes out the vent hose. It might stop doing that after an oil change and a little use. If it doesn't, you 'll have to clean out and maybe replace the ball and spring.
