What ignition is factory installed in 2000 Husky? is it single or double fire? also I'm thinking of dyna 2000i single fire as a upgrade and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this replacement?

Would I order a kit for 99 and older HD softail?

I think the single fire coils first appeared in 2005 on big dogs - happy to be corrected on that

Well my 03 was a dual fire and my 05 is a single fire and as Lee stated I understand it was in 05 that they went to single fire but don't know to much about the early models.

What is the difference between the 2? Is it just 1 or 2 seperate coils?
Just like my old Harley Shovelhead (have I mentioned I don't miss that old POS!) on a dual fire both cylinders fire at the same time even though only one is on the firing stroke. This wastes coil saturation energy or they say anyway.
On single fire only the cylinder on the firing stock fires so the coil is only working half as hard or allowing all it's energy into only the one cylinder on the firing stroke hopefully poviding a more powerfull spark to the one cylinder!

yep - that is why dual fire coils are sometimes called wasted spark coils

Converted my 04 chop and its an easy conversion all you will need is the new ignition and a new single fire coil that can be a single or dual coil. You'll be able to adjust the new ignition not like your current setup.

Just to sum it up, I have duel fire thunderheart ignition, I'm assuming I can get a kit for a 99 and older HD evolution?

So with my dyna 2000 ign, does that change it to single fire? Interesting.
Not necessarily, even the aftermarket ignitions like crane and dyna come in either a single or dual fire configuration. If whoever put your ignition in didn't change out the coils as well then you still have a dual fire ignition.

Yep but make a decision on single or dual fire or you will also need to replace the coil. There are also some ignitions that are available with the trimpot adjustments or one with a module that is tuned by laptop only, again your choice.

Thunderheart dual fire on the pre 2005 models.
Dyna 2000 on 98 and earlier models.
IIRC the 1999 Thunderheart system became password protected because Indian used the same system and dealers could use their software to modify the advance curve and they could use BDM's software to access rpm data stored in their system (I guess they didn't have or didn't know about that capability).
