I thought of this while at Home Depot, I see others have done similar hook ups too. I made the cable long enough to rest the seat on the fender, or on the ground, and the cable tucks away behind the battery covers.
To completely remove the seat away from the bike you will have to cut the cable, or un-screw the allen head bolts on the seat.
Items purchased; 4 feet of vinyl coated 3/32" cable ($1.36). 1 package of 3/32" aluminum ferrule and stop set ($1.37).
I put shrink wrap over the ferrules, you could use tape.
I used 19" of vinyl coated cable between the hoops made by the ferrules around the frame and seat tongue (?).
I zip tied the cable to the battery Neg. cable to prevent movement/scratching.
The ferrules were easily crimped with my wire splicer tool.
So now have peace of mind where ever I park, and I only have to watch out for the guy with the big wire/bolt cutters.
