I personaly like my legs under me more it gives you more control of the bike in case you have to dodge something or somebody. I agree alot of people like being streched out but it's like a jockey on a horse if there legs where out in front of them they wouldn't have any control of the horse. The same thing applies to the iron horse.

I'm only 5'-10" and have the 3" fwd controls; it makes a world of difference! Helluva lot more comfortable ride on those long trips. I'm still able to raise myself up off the seat if I need to avoid a pothole or something laying in the road.

I'm 6'2" and the BDM extensions are enough for me. Sometimes I wish I was stock again. :loony:

DM Machine should have some available for ya.

FREEDOM!!!
Just installed the DM 3" extensions. World of difference better and I can still jockey no problem (ride a Ridgeback). 6' 3" 250 and too cramped stock. Feels natural now, like sitting on the can 1st thing in the morning after an All-You-Can-Eat beer and burrito buffet. :2thumbs:

3 things I changed for my 2004 Ridgeback:

1 - Had to add a 3" brake line extension, too short to reach.
2 - Threw out the cheap stock rod end bearings (Heim Joints) on the shift linkage and installed Stainless Steel industrial joints from McMaster Carr.
3 - Added a 1" spacer and longer blot for the front of the linkage to keep it parallel to the bike for looks to comnpensate for the thickness of the extensions.

Rides they way a chopper should now for my legs.

I am sure all big dogs are the same for this but what size whole for the heim joints and what was the thread count? I am not around the bike right now to look myself but would love to order two new ones. Like you said the stockers suck.

They are 5/16 x 24 threads. One left hand, one right hand. I chose PTFE lined stainless steel rod end bearings used in industrial washdown applications but there are a number of good choices. McMaster Carr part number 59915K23, just ask for left and right threads, 609-689-3000, McMaster-Carr
