What Barhopper says is true, BUT the 107's run damn good. MY 08 Mastiff was not any stronger than my 03 (with a 107 motor) until I put a 585 cam in the 08. Plus the early 117 motors are not pure S&S and do not put out all the power they are capable of without some modifications. Many threads here on this question so look them up and then decide.Get the 04 Bulldog, it came with the 117". The difference is 10 CI. LOL. CI is king. If you don't care about ever doing engine mods or needing more power, the 107 will be just fine. I would always take the big block over a small block anyday.
Now I heard the 107's run smoother than the 117's. What's your experience marinecorpsmike? What Barhopper says is true, BUT the 107's run damn good. FYI, The 04 117 in the Bulldog is all S&S.Plus the early 117 motors are not pure S&S and do not put out all the power they are capable of without some modifications.
That is a question that has a shitload of answers. One can never have to much.107 100plus HP how much more do you NEED?
I would have to agree the 107 is a great motor, even though I've got the 117.The shop guys at Big Dog dealer (Salt Lake City) told me that the 107 was a "bullet-proof" motor and so far after nearly 3 years and thousands of miles I tend to agree.
I put it in my custom build as a new take-out fully polished motor out of a 2004 BDM chopper.
Been a great choice in my opinion and my friend Mike (who has a 124 in his) has ridden mine and said I sure don't need anymore power.

hey my 04 Mastiff has 117 , does that hold true for my motor as well?FYI, The 04 117 in the Bulldog is all S&S.![]()
I would assume so. Do your covers have 6 bolts? If so, then its S&S. If 4 bolts, then no.hey my 04 Mastiff has 117 , does that hold true for my motor as well?
it does have S&S 6 bolt covers. i was wondering bout assembly though.I would assume so. Do your covers have 6 bolts? If so, then its S&S. If 4 bolts, then no.
I’m curious as well. I have an 04 with the 107 it has plenty of power but I have never ridden one with a 117Looking at an 04. What are the pros and cons of the 107 vs 117?
