10,000 Mile Service

I'm coming up on 10,000 miles on my 04 chop and was seriously considering taking it to a BDM dealer for the service. Closest one to me is Mancuso in Houston.

What can one expect to pay for a 10,000 service?

Ouch, I was afraid of that! Throw in a new front tire and possibly a secondary drive belt and I'll be at $1,500.00. May look at a second mortgage...

What can one expect to pay for a 10,000 service?

If you look at your owners manual the 10,000 mile is pretty intense. They replace wheel bearings, check neck bearing and do the front forks as well as a lot of other things.

My only comment here is whether you do it yourself or have a shop do it at least do your front fork seals.

It's recommended every 10,000 miles. We used to have a BDM mechanic on here that recommended it every 5000 miles.
Your long forks cause the seals to wear excessively. The seals are Teflon coated and when that wears out down to brass where it then wears through the chrome on your fork tubes. Then you deal with leakage that can only be fixed with new fork tubes.
Believe me, I learned by trial and error or stupidity (the hard way). I waited till I have some 40,000 on mine before I had this done and the new seals leaked like real bad cause of the worn forks. Had to replace the forks and now all is good. I will be replacing the seals now every 5000 - 10,000 miles. It's cheaper.
