Hey guys, just purchased an 2008 Ridgeback with approx 2000 miles on it. The bike was straped down for a 10 hour ride but I keep some flex in the forks. Now when I ride I notice a little of fork oil coming from the top of left fork tube. Its not bad but I want get it fixed. I have become a self wrencher on my 07 Bulldog thanks to the help from everyone here so what I need to know is how to replace this top seal and what parts do I need and where do I purchase them from??

Yor help is greatly appreciated

41mm HD ones work too I do believe. If you contact strokers/Bikers Dream or any parts ad here. They can hook ya up

Think GasMan did a how-to on it a few years ago; dealer or most anyplace for the seals. Did you recently wash your bike or otherwise get the forks wet? IOW, are you sure they are leaking versus residual water/film coming out? Just saying, I think people have gotten concerned over a non-issue before is all.

Hope you get it straight....

Every person that rides a Big Dog MC that I have come across has a leaking fork seal. Guess the factory installed some shitty seals, or incorrectly installed them.

RIDE IT HARD!!!
Be sure your fork caps are not filling up with water. When they do it makes it look like you have a seal leak. I always have to loosen the caps and drain the water out after I wash the Dog. Will be putting drain holes in this winter when I tare the bike down for repolishing of all the aluminum.

when choosing the fluid to put back in the forks, get 30 wt.
20 wt is just a little too light and allows it to bounce too much.

I plan on doing exactly what woodbutcher suggests as the bikes come with too light of an oil in the forks...

I don't buy the fluid bounce thing. I have raced on the dirt with bikes with regular and inverted forks, the fluid is bouncing up and down when getting air, bouncing over whoops and rocks and didn't have leaks. If I had leaks, I changed the seals, problem solved. Bottom line, bad seals or improper installation from the factory.

Well, I removed the top chrome cap from the top of the fork and there is only one washer and on small flat rubber seal. I looked down inside the tube and could see down to the top of the bottom fork seal. I saw a little fluid down there. I still have no idea how the fork oil would get high enough to leak from the very top of the fork up by the the top triple tree? Any thoughts?
