08 and newer ridgeback vs k9 vs mastiff

Looking to buy a big dog, i have a couple of bikes im looking at, one being an 08 ridgeback and a 09 mastiff. I have riden a mastiff and it was a nice ride. I have not been able to test ride a ridgeback and the two dealers near me do not stock them because they are difficult to sell (there words). The ridgeback i am interested in is to far to travel just to look at. Would a ridgeback be that uncomfortable for my wife to ride on for couple hours riding on a weekend? I love the look of all three! My two dealers tell me i wont be happy on a hardtail in Michigan... would love your input , thank you

love the ride on mine. I run about 32psi in the rear and it makes the world of dif. they are long and flex real good. We ride all over and the roads here are pretty rough too. Hard bumps it doesn't matter what your on, they suck.

The only way to know for sure is to ride one - no one can tell you what is right for you. I also live in Michigan and selected the K9 because the roads in Michigan are shit and I thought the K9 would be a better choice. Others may find that the RB is great in Michigan. Spend the time to go ride a few bikes - you will likley be living with the decision for a while. Good luck - regardless of what you choose I am sure you will love the bike and be able to pick it up at a great deal.

They don't call a rigid frame bike a "Ridgid" for nothing. BD discloses exactly what it is in the name of the bike. I suspect the dealer is correct about them being harder to move. I have noticed they seem to move slower (and at a greater discount price) in the resale. If you are a young buckaroo your back may be more forgiving that some of our older guys backs (talking about myself). I LOVE the way the Ridgeback looks with that 330 tire and funky seat...but my back says "No". We have all either in the heat of passion, anger, or lust over a material thing woke up the next day and wondered "what the heck was I thinking" and wish we could reverse the prior decision. RIDE BEFORE YOU BUY. What is a few hours to go look at and ride a bike that you are going to have to live with (AND PAY FOR?) for most likely quite some time? Good luck my friend with what you decide and let us all know your final thoughts!

kazoo,
I have an 09 Mastiff and the wife and I have done some long rides without issues. She says it is as comfortable as my HD Nighttrain....but she looks alot cooler on it. :)

I have a K-9 and I also picked it because of the shitty ass roads here....when I was shopping around for my bike...I drove 2 hours each way to FT in Lansing just to look at the bike....I did this about 5 times:loony::lol: but if you can ...try to find another place were you can test ride them....you will be the only who who can decide wich bike is best for you...good luck....and if you need any help...give a shout!

i live in kalamazoo, michigan,, fullthrottle motosports in lansing and smokinjoes motorsports in caledonia..Ok for those of you on k-9s , did you test ride the ridgeback before you chose the k9.. i used to ride a cbr 1000rr and it rode better than it looked , i did a 5hour ride one time and that was to much. my wife didn't care to ride on it for any distence ,, so for those of you ridgebackers how far have you ridden in one sitting?

I didn't test ride the Ridgeback before I bought my K-9...cause I wanted something with a suspension...and when I bought my bike...it was in Feb. of 07 Full Throttle delivered right to my door...had to wait 3 weeks to take my first ride...being all the salt and shit on the roads...

Hello: I was an over the road truck driver, and have been through Michigan many times. So I am familar with your crappy roads. I also own a Pit Bull rigid, and at 60 years old, I can ride with many a younger folks with soft-tails, NO PROBLEMS! I also keep my rear tire at the recomended 42 psi. It is your ass, in your seat. Test ride all & deside. I just wanted to let you know that rigids are NOT a bad ride. Best of luck, with whatever you purchase.

I ride a Ridgeback and the wife loves the ride, keep in mind she'll be sitting right on top of a very fat tire. The length of the bike helps to ease the ride as well, wouldn't trade mine for anything.

We have put in a couple full days (300 plus miles). We rode to Fayeteville and it ended up on the trailer. So we rode my friends ultra home, she was wishing we were on our Ridge. She said it was way more comfortable. I also have a 18" sissy bar on there for her.

I do agree with everyone that you need to ride on one first. The 08 up has a longer seating position than my 05 did. It will stretch you out some more. Good luck with your purchase.
