07 K9 Starter Question

My Name is Steve from NY. Over the Summer I picked up an 07 k9 with 5k miles and recently I have noticed small oil spots on my garage floor. I looked under the bike and I see oil on the bottom of the Starter. After reading some posts I realize that my starter has taken in oil. I am going to pick a reman starter from ebay and attempt to change it myself being that the only dealer for BDM on Long Island closed down early this year. i puchased the service manual and they have one small paragraph about the starter. Does anyone know what has to be taken off the bike to slide the starter out? Any comments and or photos would greatly help. Thanks

Steve, swapping out the starter is not a difficult task, there is a post on this somewhere, I think GAS was behind it - yah what's new -lol. :lol::2thumbs::lol:

Just as a heads up, the boys have moved over to NorthShore Motorcycles, great establishment and I do believe they are now an authorized BDM service house. Look them up.

Thanks for the reply...I looked around and see many posts about the primary fluid leaking through the starter but no details about removing the starter. Do you know if I can pull the starter out over the Clutch Housing or do I have to remove my exhaust and clutch housing?
